For Autodidactic Learners You Can Not Learn Chinese Alone Without Tutor

Dear all chinese friends,

Are you still fond of learning chinese?

Do you still keep practicing?

I hope so !

Do you think learn chinese is hard?

Yes, chinese language is not so easy to learn. It is not as easy as we learn english, right?

But, if you have a strong will and a hard effort to learn, nothing is impossible, right?

During working in the field of chinese tutoring, I discovered that most of the chinese learners who learned chinese as the autodidactic learners often faced 4 main difficulties in chinese learning.

What difficulties?

Mainly are these 4 subjects:

                                                  
1. Tone
2. Hanyu Pinyin
3. Character writing  
4. Grammar

Yes, exactly !

Tone and hanyu pinyin spelling method are the basic foundations that we must learn first in the chinese learning. You have to master these well before you can continue to the next subjects. So these are the first steps to learn. It needs quite a long time to practice until you fully understand about it.

As you know, chinese language is a language which is focused on tone. Different tones make different meanings. Same tones with different characters also make different meanings. So, It’s very important that you must learn it hard.

We can not jump as much as we like in learning, cause everything has its step. There are rules in learning. This is the reason why the autodidactic learners can not master it well, because they don’t know about the rules and the steps. Furthermore, the autodidactic learners learn it alone without the guidance of a tutor.

Learning grammar and how to write the character are the same, too. There are rules too. The learners surely need a tutor’s guidance.

Dear chinese learners,

Remember, not all subjects you can learn it alone just by yourself, no matter how hard you are learning and how high spirit you are having.

What subjects that you can not learn it alone without tutor?

Those four subjects the above-mentioned !

Some learners said, we can learn it on youtube by ourselves.

Yes, that’s right. There are modules in youtube.

But, who will correct you, if your tone and pinyin are wrong? None !

So, can you be sure, that your tone and your pinyin are already correct?

Some learners will say: I just want to learn speaking only is enough, the other are not important.

Absolutely wrong !

The chinese learning have 4 main pillars: 

1. Speaking and listening
2. Reading and writing 
3. Grammar and vocabulary
4. Tone and Hanyu Pinyin spelling method

These 4 main pillars are  one unity that can not be separated and are interconnected and related to each other.

We can not learn it separately. We can not choose which one we want to learn, cause they are one unity. You learn one, you have to learn the other three too.

Have you seen any people, which can speak only, but can not read and write? There are so many in all over the world.

Those people are the real example of the ones which learned chinese uncompletely, always chose in learning. Have they mastered chinese well? Certainly, not !

Why do we have to be like them?  They are just the same like the illiterate people !

Now, I want to teach you, how to measure your achievement in chinese learning.

You can measure your own achievement easily by this method:

1. If you speak chinese, can other people understand what you said?
2. If somebody speaks chinese with you, can you understand what he said?
3. Can you make a simple chinese sentence without making any mistakes on grammar and vocabulary?
4. Can you read and understand a simple children story for about  50% minimal?

If you have learned chinese for some periods of time or have learned for a long time, but you still can not meet these four items, that means you have no achievement on your learning. Or you just make a little achievement but not significant.

There were so many autodidact learners telling about their difficulties in learning these subjects.

So, this matter brings me an idea to write this. I hope all of you that are having the same problem with them, from now on already know and understand how to seek a solution.
